So, we're now into week three with a new website, a team of remarkable volunteers, a greenhouse full of healthy seedlings, and a renewed sense of optimism.
We still have hurdles to overcome, things to sort out, funders targets to achieve and unfortunately debts to pay but we're getting to grips with what needs to be done now.
I think, in the true essence of the Goscote Greenacres Community Garden ethos, we are all growing, learning as we go and collaborating with a joint sense of purpose to preserve this wonderful space and to put the community back at the centre of this community garden.
Our first Teas With the Trustees event was a great start in establishing a much needed dialogue between the Board and the plot holders. We have been nothing but honest about why we find ourselves in this position and we were able to explain this to those who attended and hopefully put rumours to rest. We hope to work with the plot holders further over the coming weeks to allow them to have a say in the direction of the garden moving forward. I would like to say a personal thank you to all who attended and everyone who completed a volunteer form on the day. I'm still collating the information but trust me, i'll be in touch!
Goscote Greenacres has always been about much more than individuals growing individually. It is a resource for people, to bring people together, for people to work together, to share ideas and experience, to grow as a community and learn. (I'm currently learning about website design and writing a blog! Can you tell?)
With all of the above in mind we ask that whatever support you can give to our forthcoming May Bank Holiday Plant Sale you will. If this is even just turning up on the day to buy plants or getting involved in some other way, it all helps to breathe life into the Garden.
If you would like to do more, and start volunteering with us then please reach out.
Afterall, this is your garden.
